Resolving Aatrix Error When Generating Certified Payroll Report in Sage 300 CRE
Issue
Users of Sage 300 CRE version 23.1 may encounter a termination error message when attempting to generate any certified payroll report in Sage 300 CRE Payroll, under Tasks, Federal eFile and Reporting, or State eFile and Reporting. The error message displayed is: "An error has occurred please see the Log for details." Additionally, the Log Viewer shows the error: “Object referenced not set to an instance of an object.”
Cause
This issue arises due to changes in the processing of information for certified reporting, introduced in version 23.1 of Sage 300 CRE. Specifically, the error occurs in instances where a Pay Group with a bi-weekly pay frequency is not set up in Payroll.
Resolution
Until the update is released, users can implement the following workaround:
1. Add a New Pay Group: In Payroll, go to Setup, then to Pay Groups.
2. Configure the Pay Group:
- Description: Enter “Do Not Use”.
- Pay Frequency: Set this to Bi-weekly.
- For example, set Pay Group = NOTUSED, Description = DO NOT USE, Pay Frequency = Bi-weekly.
- Bank Account: Select a bank account from the dropdown list.
3. Post-Update Action: Once an update resolving this issue is released and installed, this Pay Group can be deleted.
